  Sordid and suspended in a dark, disgustingly juvenile aura. It’s difficult to know how self-aware this movie is. What comes to mind is that axiom about how parody unclear in its aims risks joining in on the “issues” or “ills” that it’s trying to make fun of.   Suburban Taxi Driver. The movie that taught me about the movies. Still packs an unbelievably strong punch on what has to be my 300th rewatch. Grounded by comedic camouflage while somehow still being genuinely and ungraspably weird. There are a few moments of dismantled reality and frozen air in here which border on the psychedelic.
