Fantastic world building. Mesmerizing performance by Sally Hawkins. Michael Shannon played a compelling villain, however some of his moments felt a bit ham-fisted (e.g., fingers). Ultimately, I did not completely believe the central romantic relationship, and that definitively tarnishes the film.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi 2017
Very disappointing. Perhaps it was my fault for being too optimistic in my expectations. The first 40 minutes felt like a parody of Star Wars. It became more immersive after that, but once we arrived at the throne room scene, it was as though there were too many balls being juggled. I am not convinced the juggler kept all of the balls in the air.

Oh, there were moments that popped up here and there which held all of the glory of the original. Sadly, those moments were fleeting. The ending was a mess. It was too ambitious, with too many parts and pieces, and without the proper groundwork for all of the parts and pieces.
