  Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation 2015

  no matter how crisp, thought-out, and well-executed the action sequences get these movies will never be truly good because there's not a single interesting character. phillip seymour hoffman was able to make something decent a few movies ago but it's shocking they can't even come up with a compelling villain. especially when they basically have liscense to get as hammy and over the top with it as they want.

  and then for the main cast, we got the most flavourless…

  ★★½ Added

  they nearly perfected the formula in this one. the main plot doesn't matter all that counts is clearly explaining each action set piece a few times so we know exactly what's about to happen and then we can watch them struggle through it. it might as well be a series of short films but as a movie it works fine

  OK, if you're going to make a movie about alzheimer's why not make a movie about alzheimer's? do you really need to create this whole pandemic scenario to justify having it happen to young attractive people? the whole time i couldn't help but think that this is a real thing i've seen happen to real people, so why are they hiding behind a sci-fi premise? is real life not moving or heart-breaking enough? or would that have been too sad/not…
