Mickey 17 2025
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Mid-tier Bong, but it's got all the stuff I like from him. Somehow manages to be both goofier than Snowpiercer and yet also much much bleaker. Appropriate for the times I guess.
Pattinson continues to secure his "generational talent" credentials. I don't think he's ever played two parts with the same voice. He gets a lot of chances to show off as a physical comedian in this. He can really fall down a flight of stairs with the best of…

Next Goal Wins 2023
Biggest problem here is Fassbender is miscast for a movie like this. What this part needs is a guy who is still a screen presence you want to root for when he's yelling, and Fassbender's whole energy is too intense and scary for that. The infamous deadnaming scene, which in context is clearly supposed to read as "ignorant asshole who's out of his depth," instead comes across as "is this man about to do a hate crime" which is just tonally at odds with what a goofy underdog sports movie is trying to do. And that fundamental awkwardness kind of hangs over the whole thing unfortunately.

The Umbrellas of Cherbourg 1964
It's so taken for granted how sad this movie is that I feel it doesn't get enough credit for being fucking funny as hell. Likewise, so much ink has been spilt on the incredible sets that I feel the need to speak up for how gorgeous the little location work is.
