This movie is so well done. I can’t get over the fact that it’s 70 years old because it feels so ahead of its time cinematically.

Masterclass movie. I’m a sucker for a romance movie that’s not sappy in the slightest and this was just fantastic.

They were able to tell an intricate story without using too much dialogue, but rather intentional and meaningful lines. They used body language, sight, the way they breathe, touch, to paint us this plot. Everything in this movie had amazing attention to detail, and depicted the late eighteenth century perfectly for us to see.

The chemistry between the two leads…
