The Running Man 1987
The best California vs Minnesota governor showdown I’ve ever seen.
I love how this is meant to be set in 2017 and then it cuts to the most 80s outfits to ever exist.
It’s a very fun movie - dystopian political commentary, classic snazzy 80s action, cheesy Arnie one-liners, over-the-top style, and aerobics-styled dance routines carried out with the precision seen only in those videos of North Korean troops marching in exact synchronicity.

Conclave 2024
My friend told me to watch this because it was like if House of Cards was made about the Catholic Church and he was not wrong.
I love the gradual buildup of tension and the sporadic jolting moments. The cinematography and composition are stunning. Ralph Fiennes is, of course, incredible. It’s a very gripping drama about a subject I would have otherwise had no interest in. I thought the outcome was a bit predictable and a couple of the shocking moments were a liiiiittle too convenient for how unlikely they are.
That being said, this is SO fun. For lovers of politics and reality tv.

The pivotal scene of Elisabeth’s breakdown while getting ready for her date felt very raw and authentic in an otherwise surreal and grotesque story. Sure, maybe the theme is a little overstated,…

I Saw the TV Glow 2024
Ok WOW I loved this movie. I didn’t expect to relate to it quite as much as I did. But in some ways, it resonated with me very literally. When I was in college, I wrote a short story about my childhood best friend Joanna and the mystical world we created based on the movies and tv shows we watched (i.e., Buffy…, Harry Potter, Charmed, Sabrina..). We lived in a perpetual state of Halloween. It felt so indescribably special. As…
