I was fortunate enough to see a preview screening of this in 70mm. I even got to talk to Paul Thomas Anderson! It was an amazing night.

The film might be his most freeform story yet. It defies the three act paradigm and challenges digital filmmaking with its gorgeous 70mm print. One of the most gorgeous prints I've seen in ages.

The film itself was fascinating. An intense character piece with incredible performances and a haunting story. Phoenix gives the performance of his career, he disappears in this role. Hoffman and Adams were great too. Heavy flick. Recommended.

"TOTAL REGRET". Easily one of the most boring movies I've seen in a long time. Despite the action, it lacks any of the fun that made the original a classic. No humor, nothing that made any of the characters likable. Terrible plot decisions, laughable "dramatic" scenes. Just a disaster all around.

The worst thing about it wasn't even that it was an awful film, it was just so borderline mediocre that I couldn't wait for it to be over. It gets 2.5 stars because the visual effects and art direction were great.
