It was fine. It is exactly what the trailers make it look like. It is neither transcendent nor transformative. The biggest problem is that you can feel all the places it was stretched out. It could have been a tight two hours, and still been a nicely expanded version of Act 1.
Bailey, Erivo, and Grande are giving marvelous, elevated performances in a mediocre script (so no change from the stage version there) and I can’t decide if Michelle Yeoh deserves an Oscar or a Razzie for delivering words like “congratulotions”.
