The only movie I have ever seen where I was ok with the dog dying.

    Female Prisoner Scorpion: Jailhouse 41

    ★★★★★

I love this movie so fucking much. Every time I watch it I feel healed on a physical, emotional and spiritual level. Is this what religious people feel when they say that God has come into their lives?

Meiko Kaji is in 90% of the shots in this movie and almost all of them are iconic. She only has two lines and they're both devastating.

    It's ecstasy.

    Full Moon in New York

Solid character drama about 3 women living in New York, one of whom is Maggie Cheung.

Really liked the way their relationship developed and the kind of somber vibe that permeates the whole thing.

    The Purge: Election Year

Election Year definitely has a better cast, but I think I prefer Anarchy. Hard to beat Frank Grillo Punisher for me, you know?

Other gripes are minor, it's still fun.

I had never heard of this before today, but the timing is perfect. I've been listening to Lush a lot lately, having recenly finished Miki Berenyi's memoir. I've been watching interviews and music videos and concert footage on YouTube and just generally enjoying my time with a band I've been enamored with for a couple decades all over again.

The film is mostly just the band walking around various places while on tour for their second album, Split. The last…

    Royal Warriors

    ★★★★

Solidly entertaining police action flick. It's well put together, well acted and has some excellent fight scenes. I really liked the way that they handled the villains, giving them a backstory and purpose, rather than just making them evil gangsters.

Royal Warriors is more serious and straightforward than Magnificent Warriors, the film Michelle Yeoh and director David Chung did directly after this, and it's not as much fun as a result. But I still enjoyed the fuck out of it.
