Assault 1971
70s British cinema can be spectacularly ugly at times. Drab fashion, dull colours to an overwrought soundtrack depicting sex crimes in grim woodland. Not sure I buy it as an English giallo but there’s enough drab sleaze going on to entertain those who like that dreary 70s English aesthetic. Suzy Kendall plays a teacher so there’s that. And some unneeded but quite fun pylon drones too.

Mission: Impossible III 2006
Mixed bag here. On the bright side the MI universe is really starting to take shape. On the less bright side JJ Abrams hasn’t mastered the fact that he’s making a film for cinema screens and not TV screens. Screenplay’s a bit messy too but it’s solid. Having said all that the Chesapeake Bay Bridge scene is a doozy and really sets a template for big scenes in the later films.

Supervixens 1975
There’s a streak of meanness in the violence but other than that it’s another splendid entry in to Meyer’s world. I love the fact that all the women have Super in their name. A lot of fun and the Severin blu ray looks amazing.
