Solid journeyman sci-fi action but little more.
Way too safe and straightforward in approach - hits the expected beats and needed more sincere character interaction like between Hicks/Ripley/Newt, which are brilliant breathers but doesn't carry over to the goofy "badass" marine stereotypes, without the self-awareness of the macho posturing in Predator
Aside from the initial chestburster and final mech fight, 99% of the violence revolves around xenos getting splattered as cannon fodder with no variety or visual quirks.
Arnie's efforts are still the action-horror blueprints cause they have a sense of humour
