Somehow the rights acquisition of Tetris invoked the KGB!? I had fun with this.

This film offers a visually stunning yet somewhat heavy-handed take on the classic tale. While the exploration of religion versus science is intriguing, the execution feels overly forceful, diluting its impact. That said, Robert Eggers delivers his usual brand of dread-filled atmosphere, and the cinematography is stunning. Lily-Rose Depp’s performance is hit or miss—she tries hard, maybe too hard, but there are a few moments where her physical acting pulls you in. Despite its flaws, the film reflects Eggers' strong craftsmanship, even if it doesn't quite reach the heights of his best projects.

There’s a catharsis that the movie is building to, that you don’t even realize is happening until you’re already on the wild ride. Mikey Madison is incredible and captivating in the lead as Anora. Sean Baker’s writing really gets you into the world. Hilarious and sweet, sexy and absurd, Baker showcases the world that is alive, just around the corner, from a place that people don’t talk about. The final moment is incredible.

Incoherent. This movie felt like two different movies at once. Nothing is established early which leads to confusion for the audience. Even with all the confusion, the ending is telegraphed from about 1/3 of the way through. Chace Crawford has charisma that is wasted.
