Ema 2019
A strange case of a film which makes little to no sense until its final few minutes. Gael García struggles to play a bad guy, and does not convince as a choreographer except in the vitriolic anti-reggaeton speech (which is hilarious, and quickly refuted for a metaphor about fucking, and then subsumed by a montage of fucking). It's unclear why everyone should be "done with [Ema's] bullshit" — she seems all right. Can't blame a girl for being hot. Bit…

Waves 2024
A textureless attempt to tell an interesting story. Every item of clothing, every prop, every clean-shaven face seems freshly minted to the point where it's so distracting from what little is happening on screen that the vast majority of Waves is as ephemeral as waves on the ocean. Jurassic World Dominion 2022
An interminable crock of shit.
The moments of Ian Malcolm's incredulity are as close as we get to charm. Every action sequence refuses to orient the viewer, to their great discomfort. The returned orig' tridge cast throw into sharp relief how poor company Owen and Claire have been.
I'm as happy as anyone that Malta got its first Hollywood dollar since Popeye, but that entire sequence was an unnecessary delay to the fun of assembling the dino avengers. With this…
