This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
There's loads of atmosphere here that makes it a compelling watch: dirty realism, minimalist conversation that makes me think of Raymond Carver or Adrian Tomine, a lot being said despite laconic dialogue, the tenderness of the love between Leon and his brother Beck in their horseplay scenes, contrasted with Leon's menacing co-worker and potential stepfather. It's so tightly wound, though, that you kind of expect it to explode just a little more by the end. Loved this film though (and there's that score by Chat Pile too). 4/5, would watch whatever the directors or cast are doing next.

Can’t really say it better than the late 2021 Jacobin review, which pushed me to watch this much later in life. I assumed this would be US anti-communist / anti-leftist drek because of the time it was released and the star power behind it, so I never bothered. Wow, was I wrong. Wonderful film.
