  Let’s start with the positive!
  - some really beautiful but haunting cinematography. Framing actors in such a lonely sad way! 
  -the characters may not be like able but they are real and feel like they are trapped in some sort of right person purgatory.
  -music when there is music was great
  -love the idea of a movie where nothing happens! 

  Okay bad now 
  -it’s long 
  - it goes nowhere (which I like) but it’s not entertaining except for small moments…

  Had to read a synopsis afterward to double(triple) check that I wasn’t lost. This movie captures the soldiers life in quiet moments and moments of mental tension. Of course there is a sensual energy that is obvious! Love the ballet/dance scenes. These visuals are unique choice for a narrative that is about a man who is exiled from the French legion for trying to kill a man he had sexual and jealous feelings toward!
