  Really cool, really immersive sound design and use of long shots and silences. More "going on" than I've seen in a lot of queer films lately which I really enjoy. not to say there are no good queer films of course but I'm still mad about Maurice. that shit sucked. it's not enough to be gay, you gotta give me some plot and some TEETH!

  I went into this expecting to hate it because I hated Call Me By Your Name (trite, empty) and I didn't like it, but I didn't hate it. it had me in the first third. it became a different, worse movie halfway through. tried to be surreal without any genuine-feeling effort, and without anything visually or intellectually earned that made it feel like an appropriate shift into artsy surrealism. maybe I'm a philistine. who cares. it felt like bad, aimless…
