damn, I love bong and I love robert but this was kind of a whiff for me. Edward Ashton wrote an amazing novel, one that this film follows (roughly) for the first 40% of the movie but then quickly trivializes the plot’s most interesting points as they get lost in the yassified Trump commentary. it also abandons all the fascinating questions it raises to make space for pretty whack pacing and mismanaged comedic beats.

“everything i hoped for” in IMAX3D. first class worldbuilding and probably the best VFX the human race is capable of. i don’t even need a story I could watch 8 hours of pandora flora and fauna (like when i’m too high and accidentally watch the apple TV screensavers) and still be floored.
also, at the very end when Kiri drops her “sullys stick together” my dad said “yea except for the dead one” and the person next to us absolutely lost it and sobbed all the way through the credits it ruled
