I need to rewatch Diving Bell and the Butterfly after this. Visually striking and creative. Unique use of point of view not unlike Diving Bell. And this guy directed a concert film of Lou Reed’s Berlin? Cook.

    Theater Camp

    ★★½

I checked Letterboxd after the first 10 minutes to see if there were multiple movies called “Theater Camp” because it seemed bad enough that I thought I might be watching the wrong movie. Luckily it got better, but a lot of it is still pretty bad with all due respect. It seems like it’s probably a lot of pandering and inside jokes for theater kids, which is fine and unsurprising, but it’s more like fan service than community filmmaking.

I think I’ve seen this exact story at least a dozen times in family movies from the past decade and I can’t even give it much stylistic credit because Spiderverse already basically did it (and did it better).

    Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

    ★★½

Too much concept, not enough story. Too much Spider-Man, not enough Miles Morales.

The setup for the third movie seems interesting, but the first 90% of the runtime only had like 10 or 20 good minutes. The movie is at its best when it’s showing Miles’ relationship with his family.

    I’m sick of multiverse movies.
