  okay what the heck i thought this was pretty friggin good, albeit definitely rushed. i can see how at the time, being a first adaptation of the book that it wouldn't be super well received since the book series is so long and complicated. but honestly 20th century sci fi movies have their own merit and charm for capturing the future within the limitations of the equipment and film technology!!

  way funnier than expected, but mostly cringe and just sad, mikey was great tho and tbh that very last scene kind of sold me...i just think her character being 2d, even if that itself was subtext for some type of commentary made the movie way less exciting or meaningful, maybe im especially more critical since it's after the best picture award win so perhaps im trying to reaalllyyy understand what about it is best picture worthy
