Come and See 1985
1000th review so I wanted to pick an intimidating watch that I’d been putting off for, well, years - the gruelling anti-war masterpiece Come and see. Its reputation is definitely well earned since the only other film that I can think of which actually made me actually have to take breaks partway through like this is fucking Salo. Flawless long takes, performances and practical effects, incredible use of natural lighting and just a really draining and upsetting atmosphere.
