    Objectively a bad movie and yet, I watched it. There are so many good bits but it fails to come together in a coherent or cohesive way. The best bits? Sissy Spacek newly installed as a housekeeper insisting on vacuuming topless, Lauren Hutton’s wit and grace, Viveca Lindfors, Geraldine Chaplin, helicopter shots of 1970s LA, fun and even insightful at times observations about LA…..and yet, and yet, and yet.

    Truly not as terrible as critics made it out to be. Truly mind boggling how Madonna, magnetism personified, is such a compelling “performer” and yet such stale actor. In Swept Away you can’t take your eyes off of her, but as an actor she mostly leaves you unconvinced, feeling nothing.

    I didn’t know what I was getting into. If you don’t have these parents this film might feel like a practical joke but if you have these parents this movie is like a beacon in an avalanche. Someone will hear and dig you out, if only to remind you it’s them not you that’s the problem. Merry Christmas.
