Cuba and the Cameraman 2017
Wow wow wow! One of the best documentaries I’ve ever seen. Despite not fully agreeing with Alpert’s stance I find it very valuable that, as a journalist, he takes the risk of positioning himself and stands by it throughout the years, even when circumstances get critical. The story is built by other people’s stories, yet it does not subvert to the false belief of “objective” documentary filmmaking. I watch these things to see a version of the world through the eyes of the cameraman, understanding that it will never be a neutral, innocent space.

Memories of a Burning Body 2024
It is always very emotional to watch films that narratively delve so deep into the female experience. Though, despite the frustrations, the fears and discomfort, I love being a woman. And I am very excited to keep growing old in this body that will continue to be full of sensation, dreams and desires no matter what happens in the “in-betweens” of it all. This film reminded me of that.
