reminded again of why this is one of my favorite movies and why i got it tattooed.
i will say upon like my 5th watch of this the pacifism of ashitaka is a bit harder to deal with even as i know his purpose and approach is on a grander scale. my friend made a point about how oppressed and dominated people are always meant to be resilient even in the face of monumental turmoil. this was her first time…
i have some Thoughts:
1. funny as hell
2. if the execution was a bit more put together this couldve easily been a 5 but there were a decent amount of scenes and dialouge that wasnt needed
3. mark ruffalo and this trump embodiment was fantastic
4. nearly every character brought up was interesting or enjoyable
5. the pacing was pretty bad especially that random nightmare sequence
6. they got me wanting to call PEETA for these damn alaskan…
there were so many easter eggs after the fact that were interesting to discover and dissect with my friend — the intention and full circle moments (the “call and response” as tár mentioned in the Juilliard scene) is so compelling in understanding this complex world and character. the masseuse parlor for one where the women are arranged in that same half circle of the orchestra and the shot of tár from the back with her hand raised in the similar…
