Today is a day that I will never forget. I spent this hungover Sunday watching the last 13 episodes of what is now arguably my favorite show of all time. I’d say that’s very productive in my book. What did you do today?

The original run was unique and influential, but The Return absolutely fucking obliterates the concept of television. Rejects all norms while simultaneously critiquing nostalgia, refusing to reduce this world to cheap fan expectations. Transcends so many boundaries…

I ultimately believe that the true measure to judge a movie is by how it makes you feel, the immediate effect it has on you, and the lasting impression it leaves long after it’s over. I can confidently say that throughout my 21 years of life, there hasn’t been a single movie that has affected me more than Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me. David Lynch manages to effortlessly blur the lines between horror and tragedy, creating what is simultaneously…

Holy fucking hell. That final act is one of the best I’ve ever seen. Why does no one ever talk about this movie????

One of the most stylish films I’ve seen in a minute. On top of that, it has genuinely one of the coolest plots of any gangster movie, the dialogue is incredible, and the characters are very colorful and super memorable. Tom might be my favorite character that the Coens have ever written, and believe me, that’s saying…

Woah. Not at all what I expected. Thought I was in store for another Coen dark comedy about a depressed, spiraling man (like Inside Llewyn Davis, which I just watched last night). Instead, I got a similar general foundation, but disguised as an ambiguous meditation on religious uncertainty, posing questions regarding the self-deprecation that may arise from a strict commitment to one’s religion. To no one’s surprise, the Coen brothers once again showcase their keen ability to bend any genre. Really good stuff.

Probably the movie that I was most ashamed to have never seen. I remember I tried to watch it in 7th or 8th grade and shut it off because my young mind couldn’t understand any of it. Fast forward a few years later and I now know that I have just seen one of the most captivating and thought-provoking stories ever to be on screen. Absolutely mind blowing. Stacked cast, stunning visuals, and a perfectly meticulously crafted story. The pacing…

Huge for the people whose favorite genre of movie is David Lynch.

Genuinely some of the Coens’ best work. A very interesting look at the dichotomy (or lack thereof) between intellectuals and “the common man”. Watch this in your room late at night with all the lights off and you will transcend, completely suffocated by this surrealist descent into madness.

Appropriate out of body experience to set the tone for this new Carti album.
