Starts well enough, but quickly becomes muddled and boring. Not even in the same ball park as Cutter’s Way. Very poor plotting and a sub A-team shoot out to finish it off.

Rollerball 1975
Bleak. Proper dystopian future and very obviously a clear template for Gladiator. The befuddled, drug addled upper class accept their lot and the masses remain supine through the games. Jimmy Caan is tremendous as the reluctant hero of the masses fighting against the corporate overlords, but still actively engaged in the violence. Did I mention that’s it’s bleak?
