I Wake Up Screaming 1941
The mystery didn't exactly keep me on the edge of my seat, but it has some interesting camerawork to make up for it. It's also introduced me to Laird Cregor, who's easily the real star. His menacing presence just completely dominates the whole movie, and it's made me an instant fan. Very much looking forward to seeing the rest of his work, RIP.

It's hard to get more "80's OVA" than this. Non-stop action, rough but beautiful animation, borderline-nonsense plot, and some kickin' tunes. You won't really know what's going on, but you will have fun. Can't wait for Megazone 24.

Porco Rosso 1992
Probably the funniest mainline Ghibli film, while still bringing more emotion out of me than most of them. Hits a beautiful sweet spot between the older and newer art styles, and has tons of great voice talent behind it (I watched the French dub starring Jean Reno this time around - lots of fun!)
Still holds up as my personal favourite after many years.Translated from by
