Jeremy Strong is carrying this movie by its bootstraps into something beyond normal. Sebastian Stan’s slow roll morph into the “character” and “myth” of Donald Trump is solid work, I just don’t find the writing nor the structure all that compelling a watch since there is a noticeable lack of thrust or wherewithal for the focus (and life) of this man.
Maybe if the film makers decided to tighten the window ever smaller? Not sure. But it felt a bit to devoid when Strong left the picture and Stan was adrift to counterbalance against the narrative of time.
