Screened at Whammy! Analog Media presented by Tape!

The music in this is awesome, and I love the product placement in the breakfast scene with Johnnie Mae and her husband. Love the possibilities of utilizing the "soap opera" genre, even when the director has a low-budget and shoots on video.

I don't think I've met a Dogme 95 I haven't liked before. But, I've never seen them all, so there is always time.

This one was fascinating to me in the sense that it makes a point of displaying the modernity of Copanhagen's lifestyle with the rural simplicity of the country through the motif of now archaic cellular phones and digital cameras with a flip screen. The judgement, criticism, and selfishness of those looking down upon him, his family home, and his brother all come to a head in this rom/com/drama that only the certified Dogme films can produce.

As if a Sirkian melodrama had radioactive nuclear waste poured all on top of it and was set to songs by The Birthday Party.

Moritsugu introduces his audience to an Asian American nuclear family who are slowly unraveling due to drugs, money, teen pregnancy, and skinheads. Gore and aliens come into play too, as well as a whole lot of commentary on budding teen sexuality. Pretty fun!
