Sandra Oh done been a powerhouse actor, we love to see her in a leading role. A haunted beekeeper? Emphatic fuck yes from me. While her delivery of dialogue is always tremendous, it was all the moments we watched her silently living her life that got to me. This was honestly a silent film level performance from her & unequivocally my new favorite. The women of this story are so compelling, the dynamics are Bergman-level complex, Fivel Stewart rocked.

    Moms are so weird.

let Jacob Chase cook! this genius horror fable has marvelous visual storytelling, everything was masterfully planned & executed. especially after watching the disappointing Megan, which failed to capture any semblance of realism in the familial relationship or representation of child services, Come Play presented a beautiful story centered around a differently-abled child & the isolation he feels from his neuro-typical peers. this connected with me in such a meaningful way, I’ve been working with kids like Oliver for so…

Frankly, this looks like a meager community theater production that was filmed. There were a few cool shots & transitions, but that was about it.

As with most productions of Macbeth, Orson’s script sprints through the…

    The Metropolitan Opera: Fidelio

While I loved the anti-dictator commencement at the top, I found that Fidelio lacks some of the dynamic power that the Met has put produced more recently, as with Tesori’s recent triumph Grounded or Mayer’s inspired adaptation of Aida. While the design is grand in detail & in scale, it lacks much of the engaging power that has been captivating me over the last few productions.
