It's difficult to explain why American Hustle doesn't quite work. The performances and cast are great and I thoroughly enjoyed most scenes, but by the end it doesn't all amount to much. I got the feeling that the director was in love with the actors he got and just let them run wild, editing whatever happened into a film. There's a plot, but it doesn't seem like the focus. The movie doesn't feel tight. Instead it feels like a long string of scenes where talented actors argue with each other in character. It's fun while it lasts but is doomed to be forgotten.

Dark Star 1974
I want to call this movie a weird mess, but it's a low budget sci-fi satirical comedy from the 1970's. It's kind of redundant. Some scenes are fully while others are tedious, and the whole thing is thankfully short. There's nothing spectacular here, but Dark Star is worth watching just for the memorable argument at the end.

Heckler 2007

Battle Royale II: Requiem 2003
This film is fundamentally flawed. The entire concept is just one massive misfire. The introduction is decent if a bit too similar to the previous movie, but then everything quickly devolves into a long sequence of scenes where nothing makes sense. Character motivations are absurd, whatever is going on at the time is nonsense, and the logistics of the plot are nightmarish.
We rejoin the guy who lived through the first film, but he's now an entirely different character. Despite…
