Go into this one blind if you can, because that was a great experience. Sophie Thatcher is on a roll with this and Heretic, and here's hoping she keeps that streak.

A bleak story of loneliness, performative togetherness and the inanity of social scripts that binds us in terrified desperation. Lines are delivered in flat reads, and yet the performances are stunning. It leaves me with a profound sense of emptiness.

A high-octane assault on the senses, an incredible feat of direction (seriously, featuring a road war with twenty different cars, people jumping between them and constantly shifting stakes in a way that makes it clear to anyone what is going on at any given moment is prize-worthy in itself), incredibly well shot and acted - this is not only the best postapocalyptic movie in existence, but one of the best made movies period.

Also, it doesn´t feature that antisemitic piece of shit from the first trilogy, so that´s a plus as well.

A young man finds a human ear in the forest, decides to play Nancy Drew and all too quickly discovers the darkness lurking in the parking lot behind his white picket fences hometown. Dennis Hopper plays Frank Booth, possibly the most unsettling of Lynch´s characters in a long career of monsters with human faces. Kyle MacLachlan, fresh from Dune and just getting into his *real* Lynch collaborations is always a delight, as is a seventeen-year old Laura Dern.
