Loved 'A Real Pain'. A really fascinating, incredibly Jewish piece of art.
Really interested in contrasting and comparing to, say, An American Pickle. Reconciling our place as survivors and our connection to a history of oppression from a place of privilege.
Something that was fascinating about American Pickle is that it never referenced the Shoah, whereas the Shoah informs everything here. What it means to be a third-generation survivor is central to the film.
