    *absolutely tragic closeup of Denzel realizing what he’s done* “PLEASE ALLOW ME TO INTRODUCE MYSELF, IM A MAN OF WEALTH AND TASTE”

    Zemeckis, you’re a time capsule, dude. The insistence on these needle drops no matter the circumstance is mind blowing. Also, something about a Zemeckis movie opening with tits and cocaine doesn’t sit right.

    That being said, Denzel is one of the best to ever do it and he makes this actually pretty awesome.

    I’m yet to read a review. These are untainted thoughts. I know literally nothing of the discourse here.

    This is really a 2 or a 2.5 on execution. But I’m giving it a 3. 

    To explain this, what’s going on here is a case of “they didn’t make enough movie”. There just isn’t enough movie here. It almost feels like the writer had a literal moron buddy who was like “idk, I’d trim the fat” and then cut 6-7 necessary…

    Hey Mickey you’re so fine. You’re fine.

    Not wowed but not disappointed. The best part of this is def the fun performances. I like the creatures quite a bit. I liked sharing a popcorn with Doran. I didn’t really dislike anything. I just didn’t really love anything either. 

    Thematically, what was genuinely interesting was the scale of their colony. Big enough to not just be a “group” but small enough to feel uniquely accessible, it felt like an elementary school…
