Wow this went totally off the rails. Really suspenseful for the first two acts though and some phenomenal performances.

The Wild Robot 2024
Really strong start but the plot progressed really weirdly and the pacing didn’t work. It felt like the third act was an hour long and the film should have ended way sooner.
Boy did the dialogue and the ending feel way too earnest and totally unearned.

From start to finish, it's hard to deny that Joker is a well made film.
Pheonix gives a dedicated and physically demanding performance and every time he descends into his maniacal laugh cries you're not sure if you feel terrified or pity. His physique and his movement, especially his dancing and his laugh attacks, say much more about his character than dialogue ever could.
Costuming and production design is excellent, it's got that gritty crime infested 70's NY look but…
