  It seems that many people want to dunk on Civil War for being politically shallow or "not saying anything" when, in reality, the political aspect of the film is clearly not meant to be centre stage. The film focuses on the horrors observed by war zone journalists, compounded by being subjected to atrocities carried out by compatriots. Diving into politics would have only diluted that aspect of the film and it works well by being deliberately ambiguous.
