Starship Troopers if dreamed up by committee and finished by consultants. The outcome is an inversion: instead of satire posing as propaganda, Mickey 17 is propaganda posing as satire. The one decent idea was left underdeveloped, its implications better explored elsewhere, like in Bergman's Persona. Wish I'd left at 90 minutes.

What can I say that hasn't already been said? Ozu's film world is closer to Life than any other. Just goes to show: we're all still living in the shadow of WWII.
