  Amen, hermana.

  I honestly gasped and covered my mouth at the plot twist. I covered my mouth in a lot of scenes, actually. A marvelous combination of pulpy and rich dialogue, every line revelatory in a way, a masterclass in subtext. A brutal yet weirdly tender take on American decency. A film where the bad guys hide behind false virtue, and the ‘fallen woman’ is the only one who sees clearly.

  And yeah, he gave me pervert vibes at the beginning too, but I thought that was just the ’60s.
