  Holy pseudoscience Batman! For a movie with such a foundation in science, Annihilation haphazardly approaches the science which it discusses. While science-fiction stretches the imagination, it is also grounded in reality. Annihilation misses the mark for me, relying too heavily on fiction to argue its scientific points. For an allegory about cancer, does Annihilation say anything new about the disease? The fight against cancer is a rather well-documented and  well-known struggle. I don’t know if Annihilation says anything beyond the surface level that cancer is damaging to the individual, their friends, and their family.
