  Twelve Monkeys 1995

  One of those things where I felt like if I had been 22 years old in 1995 this would have been all I could talk about for a year. Really cool, weird, experimental sci-fi and time travel stuff on offer here. Fun and strange and interesting and made with so much singular focus. Weirdo sci-fi Bruce Willis remains the best form of Bruce Willis by a distinct margin.

  Really wasn't very amped to rewatch this movie starring Jonah Hill, about cops, where one of them has a romance subplot with a high schooler that is played completely earnestly. Unfortunately for me, I still laughed a lot and had a great time with the movie. It's a joke every ten seconds kind of movie, and a lot of those jokes are still really goddamned funny. I had kind of forgotten the cultural moment where this movie made everyone realize just how skilled a comedic actor Channing Tatum is, but man it came rushing back to me. Get him in more goofball shit again.

  Try as I might I cannot wrap my head around the fact that people saw this movie in 1979. What do you do after that?? You just go home? That's insane.

  Triumph in just about every sense of the word. Created a vibe and world that has been often imitated, never duplicated, even within its own franchise.
