  Gods of Egypt 2016

  The first hour or so I found rather average but there are enjoyable moments and it picks up a bit over time. The casting is somewhat odd but I also like most of the players involved. The CGI was mostly fine, some moments of wonkiness here and there. A fairly unique fantasy film on the surface but somewhat conventional on a structural level.

  A fun and fairly family friendly adaptation, decent sets and costumes. The musical numbers are a bit hit and miss and they just stop about half way through for no obvious reason. Diana Rigg is excellent as the Evil Queen and the sequence with the apple core made me cry with laughter.

  A wartime thriller that sums up the fight between freedom and fascism. It has the kookiness of The 39 Steps mixed with the action of North by Northwest. A brilliant script, great performances & set pieces and a mix of obvious and subtle symbolism make for compelling viewing.

  This is a review of the first three episodes of the TV series, rather than the 1st and 3rd episodes of the series that this tv movie was cobbled together from.

  It's hard to reconcile some of the elements in the show to the theatrical films as the cat/dog virus seems to never have happened, the apes don't kill apes ideal never occurred and all the humans can speak. It is therefore best to consider this as being set in…
