Amusingly winsome. The comedy is a bit hit and miss at times and the songs are almost entirely about moving the plot along and aren't really funny (except the winsome song.) But it does have a number of witty moments and the great cast make it worthwhile. The trailer makes it look mostly slapstick but those elements are fairly minor and the wordplay is the centre of the comedy. Strange to see such a late Buster Keaton appearance.

In the micro sub-genre of Roman era set comedy films it would work fine as the link between Carry on Cleo & Life of Brian.

Utterly ridiculous with absolutely stupid character behaviour, an insanely ludicrous eco-horror that plays it straight all the way. That being said this is great for taking the piss out of after a few drinks with friends late at night. Ralph Meeker delivers a perfect performance for a film of this type. Gold plated shite.

Pair it with The Killer Shrews for a trashy double bill of giant rodent like things.

This is a review of the first three episodes of the TV series, rather than the 1st and 3rd episodes of the series that this tv movie was cobbled together from.

It's hard to reconcile some of the elements in the show to the theatrical films as the cat/dog virus seems to never have happened, the apes don't kill apes ideal never occurred and all the humans can speak. It is therefore best to consider this as being set in…
