  I know they’re trash, but I’ve always had a soft spot for the Venom movies. They’re entertaining enough and fairly self-aware.

  In this one, Tom Hardy looks like he just got out of bed after a heavy night of eating alcoholic doughnuts. Also, he co-wrote the screenplay. I’m guessing Writer’s Strike related (like Daniel Craig with Quantum of Solace).

  Anyway, it’s a load of anti-superhero CGI nonsense, and I’m fine with that.

  PS Literally all the main characters are played by British actors. Heh.

  Very enjoyable until the last 30 minutes, at which point the script, directing, editing and CG completely go to crap. The abrupt drop in quality is a bit of a puzzle, maybe explained in part by Ray Liotta’s death - although apparently he’d finished filming a year before he died.

  Character Actress Margo Martindale is of course the best thing in this movie, which is a forgone conclusion to anybody who’s watched BoJack Horseman. Would’ve liked to see a juicier role for Scott Seiss.
