I thought this was pretty comparable to the first movie. It loses half a point though for a cliché "I'm out because I'm in love but get brought back" cliché.

Snow White 2025
Woof. What a pointless movie. It’s really not the worst thing I’ve ever seen but it wasn’t super enjoyable. I will say I thought the movie was very good looking. I enjoyed the setting and the costume design quite a bit. The old songs that were redone were also pretty good. That’s where the compliments stop. I thought it was acted very poorly, like everyone was reading off cue cards. The plot was also weird. The Apple thing was just a footnote in the movie. Who were the bandits? Why did they get so much screen time? The entire thing wreaks of just doing too much.

The more things change the more they stay the same. This is one of those movies where the setting is its own character. I could feel the heat on the pavement and the agitation of the characters. There was a big cast here that I enjoyed learning more about over time. I was hoping for a big happy ending where everyone learned but unfortunately that’s not real life. Some of the acting seemed phoned in at times which was really the only technical fault I had with this movie.

Gladiator II 2024
This is everything I wanted it to be. Is it perfect? Nope. But I loved every second of it. The action was great, the set pieces were fantastic, and the setting was beautiful. My only main gripe is some poor CGI in places and the forced connection to the first. It didn’t seem super necessary but I’m not totally upset about it. Shout out to the emperors and Denzel for making me hate them.
