I get that they wanted to mix things up from the original, but instead of the doll being possessed by a serial killer’s ghost, it’s the result of some factory worker’s programming. Hardly enough to raise a hair on your arm.

Let’s be honest, however: I watched this mostly because I’ll watch anything with Aubrey Plaza, and adding Mark Hammil is just gravy. But it still pains me to see Plaza and Hammil in a middling remake that no one asked for in the first place.

And if years of Terminator films won’t scare the public off AI, this certainly will not.

I enjoyed this one — I liked the different take on the vampire genre, ie what would it look like if vampires were real and lived among us.

This is up there with the great ‘80s cult classics. Jeffrey Combs doesn’t get enough credit for how great he is in this movie. Come to think of it, the entire film is criminally underrated.

File under ‘80s horror gems that don’t take themselves seriously.

This is a must-watch for any horror fan, and I’m sure it doesn’t go unnoticed for long. It rewrites the zombie rules somewhat, but it stays orthodox enough. Mostly, it builds on The Night of the Living Dead film — oddly enough coming out the same year as Romero’s Day of the Dead, his own continuation of the series.

For some reason, Linnea Quigley spends ¾ of her screen time nude, and there’s a cool tar zombie — how’s that for camp?
