When it comes to sleazy un-PC ‘80s superhero movies, it’s hard to beat the Toxic Avenger (literally). And sleaze this movie does.

Tits are flying at your face pretty much from the first credit and join the exploding heads and deep-fried hands that this film throws at you. Since it’s a Tromaville production, you can rest assured every tasteless joke makes it in there, including a kid’s head being squashed like a pumpkin.

    It’s a movie that accepts its lot…

So Rose McGowan ends up with a machine gun for a leg. Are you expecting Oscar bait?

I’m not a fan of the old, worn film effect throughout the movie.

This is up there with the great ‘80s cult classics. Jeffrey Combs doesn’t get enough credit for how great he is in this movie. Come to think of it, the entire film is criminally underrated.

File under ‘80s horror gems that don’t take themselves seriously.

This is a must-watch for any horror fan, and I’m sure it doesn’t go unnoticed for long. It rewrites the zombie rules somewhat, but it stays orthodox enough. Mostly, it builds on The Night of the Living Dead film — oddly enough coming out the same year as Romero’s Day of the Dead, his own continuation of the series.

For some reason, Linnea Quigley spends ¾ of her screen time nude, and there’s a cool tar zombie — how’s that for camp?
