Napoleon Dynamite. The name immediately conjures images of strength and power. Napoleon, the brilliant military strategist, and France’s first emperor. Dynamite, the explosive tool used in warfare and the construction of large structures. This name, with all of its force, grandeur and history, is comically unsuited to the boy it belongs to. Rewatched. This new viewing gave me a greater appreciation for how well paced this movie is. It’s long, but it's never boring. The movie chronicles an entire life, so it’s nearly 4 hour runtime makes sense. I also found the way that Scorsese portrayed mafia life in this movie interesting. There is no joy or glamour here.
