Said at the start of the year my dudes that I was gonna reel in some big fish.
Well … they don’t get much bigger of fishy’er than this. Don’t get more on the nose than this… which they say is the best way to startle a shark, anyway.

Yeah it’s a classic and an absolute pillar of culture. Countless parodies and references ever since “Jaws”’s introduction.

Spielberg flexing his thriller genre story telling my dudes. Do believe “Jurassic Park”…

    Honeymoon in Vegas

    ★★

Second RomCom that Andrew Bergman directed staring Nicholas Cage (“It Could Happen to You” & “Honeymoon in Vegas”) both with wild concepts.

Cage again having some of the most outrageous facial expressions and line delivery, can’t beat it my dudes. Which were laid on thick in his panic scenes when the circumstances were going against him.

Those circumstances were bizarre and not sure many in Jessica Parker’s shoes would have made the decisions she did. Can understand why 90s Parker was…

Stoked my dudes. Got to see it on the silver screen alongside a fellow Letterboxd dude.

Solid turn out with a round of applause afterwards for this immaculate film.
Immaculate concept, immaculate acting, immaculate sets, immaculate film locations.

    A film ending that’s still debated over a decade on, a satisfying heist climax that rivals “Ocean’s 11” and emotional beats throughout on;

    • Grief
    • Regret
    • Ambition
    • Remorse
    • Fartherhood
    • Love

all packaged up in a high concept action,…

    ★★★

Shane Warne is the first Australian I was introduced to. Thinking about it now, that 2005 Ashes maybe my first understanding of Australia. Cricket fever really did sweep the nation that year. I still remember watching the final day of the Edgbaston test at a garden party. All generations clued to the TV in the front room to watch Steve Harmison grab the final wicket causing England to win by 2 runs and level the series.

Anyway back to the doco. …
