High Noon 1952
This was my second time watching this. There's simply no other Western quite like it. It really captures the feeling of being alone and abandoned. Gary Cooper is a small town marshal— the best marshal the town has ever seen— whose citizens abandon him in his hour of need rather than risk their own lives. True bravery is standing up when you don't have to and putting yourself on the line when you don't have a horse in the race.
