Good! There's an issue here on a scripting level that this just comes across as quite flat and derivative but Campbell, as he often does, elevates the material.

The action here is really slick, very nicely shot and often surprisingly inventive. Shame there's not more of it because some of these sequences are pretty damn well done. Ridley makes for a great protag, very likeable and physically capable performer that also makes potentially trite emotional beats come across well. Movie also has a very good sense of rising escalation, this thing goes palpably high-strung.

Oh no, it's the threatiest threat that the universe has ever seen and it's going to destroy everything and the doctor is very sad and the universe will never be the sam- oop he did a thing and saved the day hooray.

Probably pisses me off more than most of these episodes because so much of this is dedicated to wheel spinning and overly serious narrative procrastination, how many times do I need to see someone mourn this giant world ending threat that is completely dramatically inert and why does this take so damn long to do such predictable beats?
