    Sleeper pick Tarantino GOAT?

I never loved this one when I first watched it years ago. Hot off the tail of the bombastic Django Unchained it’s easy to feel this is… lacklustre.

Though now that I’ve seen both in relative proximity, this is Tarantino’s superior western.

While Django has amazing moments and a more balls to the walls take on relations during pre civil war era US, The Hateful Eight manages to go deeper into those themes post civil war,…

Deviating outside the norm deserves punishment. The norm is a hierarchy, it’s behaving in line with what is wanted, and it’s toxic.

The cyclical effects of trauma and vice on those we hold closest. A whirlwind of visuals and grime. No holds barred violence in brief, explosive moments. One of the most exciting climaxes in recent film.  Outstanding cast with the grossest looking villains. Loved everyone’s performance and the general themes and moods this had. The darkly comic aspects of it all are genius. It takes its world and character building seriously without spelling things out for you. Looking forward to anything by Rose Glass.
